Stacy Basko is a freelance writer and marketing consultant with deep knowledge in food, branding, entrepreneurship, and non-profits. Her diverse professional background has led her into c-suite boardrooms, 4-star kitchens and locked-down state prisons. She creates content in the Garden State, close enough, but not too far from New York City.

After graduating from journalism school at San Francisco State University with a concentration in criminal justice, she worked part-time at a community prison program. A few years later, she would be running the place. From there, she moved into the world of marketing communications. She led advertising, CPG, corporate and non-profit branding initiatives on both client and agency sides, but not before backpacking around Southeast Asia and learning new flavor profiles. After a while, she ditched her suits and went to culinary school.

Today, she draws on her collective experience to consult, create content, and occasionally develop recipes. People say she’s ‘very California,’ whatever that means after a million years on the east coast.
